The camphorweed moniker is indeed appropriate. Camphorweed contains camphor and a variety of other aromatic compounds. Research tells us aromatic plants that are easy to find and identify are the most likely to be used as medicine. But the initial search for info in that regard turned up bupkus. Farther inquiry that reached south of the border was more productive. There this plant becomes Mexican arnica. It is being marketed as a relief for a variety of ailments. It comes as tea, ointment, salve, or can be used for aromatherapy. Camphorweed grows in AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MO, MS, NC, NE, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, and VA. Bibb Co GA, 7/7/18. Aster family, Asteraceae.

I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
