Texas star, Sabatia campestris
And you thought the Texas star was white? Would this improve their flag? Elsewhere in the country this might be called prairie star or prairie rose-gentian. We will go with Texas since that's where it was spotted for this image. They are a delight to see scattered through the grasslands, in this case with nearby Indian paintbrush and bluebonnets. Texas stars rise in AR, CT, IA, IL, KS, KY, LA, MA, ME, MO, MS, OK, and TX. Texas star is occasionally cultivated, and the New England records are probably escapes. Hardin Co TX, 4/16/22. Gentian family, Gentianaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
