diamondflowers, Stenaria nigricans
Diamondflowers, little jewels indeed. Then you get down close and see that these jewels are covered with fuzz. And somehow that just adds to the attraction. Diamondflowers may be found in AL, AR, CO, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MO, MS, NC, NE, NH, NM, OH, OK, SC, TN, TX, and VA. Although you are invited to be suspicious of Michigan. The only known specimen is from 1889, and is pretty far out of range. Adams CO OH, 8/4/21. Madder family, Rubiaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
