Fendler's buckbrush, Ceanothus fendleri
Fendler's buckbrush is a favorite browse of deer. Earlier tribes, including ours, made tea from the leaves of eastern species, but this one has other utility. Several western tribes found this to be a useful emetic. The Navajo used this ceremonially as a Plumeway emetic. Other websites seem to assume that this was used for tea. Several items also mention that the berries are edible, but the fruit is actually a hard capsule. Fendler'd grows in AZ, CO, NM, SD, TX, UT, and WY. Ouray Co CO, 6/21/13. Buckthorn family, Rhamnaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
