fernleaf phacelia, Phacelia bipinnatifida
Fernleaf phacelia is another of our natives that we've brought into the garden. They have the shape and size of eastern wild geraniums and can be used in much the same locations. They're available online. I'm a little disappointed and a little happy with these images. There was a huge storm blowing in. These may hold my personal record for the highest wind conditions in which I've gotten usable images. Very fast shutter speed is the only way, and that means you're giving up a lot of depth of field. One of those times you shoot and run for the car! That afternoon the weather went from nice 60s to freezing in about six hours. Fernleaf phacelia grows in woods in AL, AR, GA, IA, IL IN, KY, MD, MO, MS, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, VA, and WV. Chester Co PA, 4/21/21. Borage family, Boraginaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
