white grass, Leersia virginica
White grass is a cut grass, and is sometimes called white cutgrass. Walk through a patch of this with your skin exposed and the raspy leaf edges will make you very uncomfortable. If you're one of us who are allergic to grass, the hives you get will be even more uncomfortable. White grass is common but mostly grows in damp ground, so many of us only rarely encounter it. White grass occurs in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, WY, NB, ON, and QC. Lenawee Co MI, 8/24/13. Grass family, Poaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
