wild goose plum, Prunus hortulana
A successful wild goose chase! Many references simply list the states that a species occurs in, without detail. Michigan is included in lists for wild goose plum. In our case, that turns out to be one tree. And that's a situation that demands that we go see. This wild goose chase, all of about 15 miles from home, produced images, and thoughts about how it got there. What critter might have dropped that plum pit along the road? Wild goose plum's list includes AR, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, MI, MO, NE, OH, OK, TN, TX, VA, and WV. Lenawee Co MI, 5/9/11. Rose family, Rosaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
