Louisiana yellow-eyed grass, Xyris louisianica
Yellow-eyed grasses are one of those wildflowers southerners have so much of, and we northerners have so little of. They're one of the many sights that snowbirds can enjoy. Or maybe not. To really get a eyeful of yellow-eyed you have to venture south in the summertime. It's worth every mile and drop of sweat! Louisiana yellow-eyed grass grows in low pinelands and other damp spots in AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, and TX. Wakulla Co FL, 7/8/18. Yellow-eyed grass family, Xyridaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
