southern dawnflower, Stylisma humistrata
It was a very pretty sight, with bindweed twining and blooming among the lantana. But wait a sec, those stems are too thick, and it doesn't look quite like that nasty invasive bindweed. It turns out we're looking at a native morning-glory relative. And since it's just a relative, we call these dawnflowers. They're mostly white, but at least one other species is pink. Southern dawnflower twines over other plants and stuff in AL, AR, FL, GA, LA, MS NC SC TN, TX, and VA. Polk Co FL, 10/21/15. Bindweed family, Convolvulaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
