littlehip hawthorn, Crataegus spathulata
I shouldn't reveal the ancient secret of the power of this plant. But clearly the Michigan football players already know! The Cherokee are credited with this discovery. Drinking or bathing in tea made from the bark of littlehip hawthorn wards off tacklers! The Cherokee also ate the fruit and made an infusion that improved circulation and prevented cramps. Littlehips grow in AL, AR, DE, FL, GA, IL, KY, LA, MO, MS, NC, OK, SC, TN, TX, VA, and occasionally in gardens elsewhere. Hardin Co TX, 4/16/22. Rose family, Rosaceae.

Hi Denise
Just thinking it's almost time to come look for Platanthera flava. Bob
Hi Bob:
I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
