Sand leek can be seen in the background here, mixed with butterweed where they have taken over a fallow field. Classification of the species is confused at a couple levels. In addition to the uncertainty of the species, the family has recently been separated from the lily family. Many references are still organized using the historical lily family which included onions and a great many other species now separated into other families.

I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
