Snap shot
She was on her way to a place to lay eggs the same day I was headed for the rue anemone. Looks like she crawled right out of the Cretaceous on her way to populate our Ives Preserve. After the shot, I stuck a stick out for her to grab, and dragged her the rest of the way across the road. Wiki says there have been no cases of lost fingers actually documented, but I wouldn't take any chances!

I found it on Eber Rd, about 1.5 mi S. of Kitty Todd Preserve 1/4 mi from Metroparks land. I’m guessing it came in on the RR. (NwOhio)
Apparently so, but not on all plants. The brown only shows a little in this image.
Regarding umber pussytoes, one reference calls it brown-brackted pussytoes. Are it's bracts browner than other pussytoes?
